Record reported and documentary uncertainty

Retain the values or statement actually supplied by the external provider.

Calibration work For Quality manager, Calibration manager, Calibration engineer About 2 minutes to read

Before this guide: Record calibration work,Upload a calibration certificate

For a requirement using Externally reported uncertainty, upload and retain the provider certificate, then open the calibration's Measurement uncertainty task. This route does not require an internal component budget.

Choose numeric evidence if the certificate states expanded uncertainty. Record its exact U and unit, source reference and certificate page or section. Enter k only when stated; Metra does not assume k = 2. Link a structured measurement point or record the applicable event/range where appropriate.

For a statement such as U = 1.0 % of reading, choose Percent of reading under Uncertainty expression. Retain the original percentage, enter the exact signed reading used as its basis, and choose that reading's quantity and unit. Select the source point and as-found or as-left stage where applicable. The server checks the saved reading, converts compatible units and derives absolute U; the original percentage and basis remain in the evidence. Do not enter an invented positive reading to replace a zero or negative source value. Coverage remains unknown when the provider did not state k.

Choose documentary evidence when the provider supplies a statement or uncertainty is unstated. Retain the statement, certificate and exact page or section. Missing U or k remains unknown. A class or maximum permissible error is not automatically converted into uncertainty.

Submission freezes the reported evidence revision and its source certificate metadata. The independent work reviewer checks sufficiency against the selected policy. Later certificate replacement or setup edits do not rewrite completed evidence. Documentary evidence cannot supply numeric uncertainty inputs to calculations.
