Choose one of the uncertainty routes offered for the actual work type, accreditation and method on the calibration requirement or template. The server provides the available choices:
- Externally reported retains the external provider's numeric uncertainty or documentary statement from its certificate.
- Calculated required uses an applicable approved budget and controlled method with structured measurements, and blocks submission until the required point-and-stage evaluations are complete. Accredited internal work requires this route.
- Approved declared expanded uncertainty uses independently approved U, k, method, range, conditions and validity for eligible non-accredited internal calibration or quantitative verification. A controlled method and structured measurements remain required. See Control declared expanded uncertainty.
- None is restricted to non-accredited verification or functional checks with an explicit reason and a method that does not require uncertainty. Enter Reason no uncertainty is required; setup answers do not grant an exemption.
Optional is a retained legacy policy, not an available route for new controlled work. Historical evidence keeps its original policy. Internal calibration still requires its selected certificate evidence, including when using calculated or declared uncertainty.
For calculated work, select an exact approved budget revision. A procedure calculation step may explicitly select another revision; explicit procedure configuration takes precedence and conflicting assignments are rejected by the service.
The selected revision is frozen when the calibration event is created.
Under Externally reported, open Reported uncertainty evidence after retaining the provider certificate. Enter numeric U and its unit when stated, and enter k only when the provider states it. For percent-of-reading U, retain the original percentage and explicit signed reading basis, unit, point and stage. Use documentary evidence for an exact statement or unstated values; missing U or k remains unknown and documentary evidence cannot supply numeric calculation inputs.
Record measurement sets and points before calculating their applicable point-and-stage evaluations. Review the saved policy, approved budget revision and other technical prerequisites before activation or submission. Changing routes does not silently clear old evidence selections: review the server's incompatible-field list and explicitly apply the change.
