You can claim an unassigned item when it belongs to one of your active teams and Metra confirms your current technical authorisation. Claiming assigns only that item to you.
- Open the assigned work order.
- Find an item showing Claim work and review the equipment, requirement, planned placement and authorisation result.
- Select Claim work. If another team member claimed it first, refresh the latest order.
- Select Start calibration, enter the Performed date and review the actual place of work, work site and relevant evidence in the dialog before confirming.
Starting is checked again against current membership, permission and technical authorisation. It creates one draft calibration event and takes you to the existing calibration work plan. It does not start the controlled procedure. Complete any missing work-context evidence in Result summary before Start guided execution, which checks the procedure's required evidence and freezes the actual work context. Repeated clicks cannot create duplicate events.
If compatible calibration work already exists, a planner can explicitly link that event. Metra does not link records merely because their names look similar.
Finishing the calibration evidence and receiving independent approval completes the item automatically. There is no manual Complete action on a work order.
Start compatible items together
When several items need one exact approved group-enabled procedure revision, use Start group calibration in the work-order header. Select the eligible equipment/requirement rows, review the complete roster and actual work context, then use Check group eligibility before creating the session. The order scopes the available work; starting a group does not select all items automatically or bypass assignments and technical authorisation.
The session records shared operations once and creates one linked calibration event per selected item. Complete the device-specific work and submit the chosen ready devices independently. Approval of each event drives its own item progress. Items using another revision, date or actual site need separate work. Follow Calibrate a group of devices for the complete workflow.

Field and internal work
Before starting, confirm the actual laboratory or on-site context, work site and relevant environmental, transport and stabilisation evidence. Metra rechecks explicit procedure and authorisation scope and booked standard validity. See on-site controlled work.
