Setup files use a short-lived secure upload followed by server-side verification. Keep the page open through Preparing secure upload, transfer progress and Verifying and saving. An import session is created only after Metra has independently checked the staged source file.
Use Retry upload after a connection interruption. A verification retry does not upload the source again, and Metra never creates import records solely because storage accepted the bytes.
Open Data Import to see the setup catalogue and recent import activity. Select Start import, then identify what the source file contains. Choosing the correct type applies the matching field catalogue, validation rules and destination permissions; it does not merely change the label shown on the import.
For a new organisation, use this order when applicable:
- Organisation structure: clients, sites, timezones and hierarchical locations.
- Equipment categories.
- Asset register.
- Calibration procedure drafts.
- Calibration requirement-template drafts.
Before preparing controlled procedure or template imports, create and approve any supporting decision rules, uncertainty budgets or other controlled records their methods need in the relevant workspace. This is workflow-dependent preparation, rather than another import type. External provider evidence does not require every internal controlled library.
Existing Metra records can satisfy a prerequisite, so you do not need to import every type. The catalogue explains what each type creates and which domain permission execution requires.
For a first usable workflow, categories and equipment can be created before client configuration. Equipment needs a current site deployment before calibration requirements can be created. Setup separates these starter actions from later optional imports and lets you follow a chosen pilot instrument. Importing a placeholder equipment record does not require you to use it as that pilot. For your own laboratory's UKAS calibration schedule PDF, choose Import UKAS Schedule to create a reviewed accreditation draft with scope, CMCs and selected supporting setup. See Import a UKAS calibration schedule. This option is also available from Accreditation profiles and permission-aware organisation Setup.
CSV, XLS, XLSX and PDF are supported. Scanned PDF pages require OCR review. Import source documents remain provenance; they do not automatically become controlled evidence.
Imported procedures and requirement templates remain drafts. Import cannot submit, approve, activate or assign controlled records.
If an import is part of your initial configuration, return to Complete your organisation setup afterwards. A successful import may satisfy a deterministic setup item, but skipping or manually reviewing an item never creates imported records.
